Equipment List
- Shallow bowl for dredging steak
- 10" skillet
- Tongs
Ingredients
- 1/2 c rice flour- can substitute corn starch
- 1/4 c oil- canola or peanut
- 1/2 lb flank steak- thinly sliced
- 8 oz mushrooms- white button or crimini - quartered
- 1/2 medium red onion- thinly sliced, about 1/2 c
- 2 Tbsp rice wine vinegar
- 2 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1/4 c soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic- minced
- 1/2 tsp sesame oil
- 1 bunch green onions- chopped in large pieces
- sesame seeds- optional - for garnish
Preparation Instructions
- Slice raw steak into very thin slices
- Slice red onion, mince garlic, quarter mushrooms and chop up green onions and gather all remaining ingredients
- Pour rice flour in a shallow bowl. dredge steak slices on both sides just prior to cooking
Cooking Instructions
- Preheat to 294°F
- Add 1/4 c oil to pan
- Stir ingredients
- Add dredged steak slices to pan
- Flip ingredients
- Remove steak from pan onto a separate plate, leaving oil in the pan
- Add 1/2 medium red onion to pan
- Add 8 oz mushrooms to pan
- Stir ingredients
- Stir ingredients
- Add 2 cloves garlic to pan
- Stir ingredients
- Add 2 Tbsp rice wine vinegar to pan
- Add 2 Tbsp brown sugar to pan
- Add 1/4 c soy sauce to pan
- Add steak back to pan
- Stir ingredients
- Add 1/2 tsp sesame oil to pan
- Stir 1 bunch green onions
- Remove pan from heat
Finishing Instructions
- Serve over white rice and garnish with sesame seeds
