Equipment List

  • Cast iron flat skillet


  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1 steak
  • 1 slice butter
  • 1 teriyaki sauce
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • green onion - garnish
  • roasted sesame seeds - garnish

Preparation Instructions

  • Season steak with salt and pepper
  • Rest steak before cooking
  • Turn on ventilation fan
  • See teriyaki sauce recipe

Cooking Instructions

  • Preheat to 273°F
  • Add 1 tsp oil to pan
  • Note: You should hear a sizzle when steak hits the pan. Do not stir or disrupt the meat. You want to sear the outside but NOT cook the inside.
  • Add 1 steak to pan
  • Flip 1 steak
  • Note: Check on steak
  • Flip 1 steak
  • Add 1 slice butter to pan
  • Spread butter on steak
  • Cut steak right on cast iron pan
  • Add 1 teriyaki sauce to pan
  • Note: Remove pan from heat.

Finishing Instructions

  • Add sliced green onions for garnish
  • Add roasted sesame seeds for garnish
