Ingredients
- 12 c popped popcorn- equal to about 1/2 c whole kernels unpopped popcorn
- 1 c granulated sugar
- 1/2 c light corn syrup
- 1/3 c salted butter
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- cooking spray
- assorted candies- optional - m&m, sprinkles, or chocolate chips
- icing- optional - for decoration and to stick candy to popcorn balls
Preparation Instructions
- Follow the Cooksy "Stovetop Popcorn" recipe. Make 12 c popped popcorn (about 1/2 c of uncooked popcorn).
- Spray bowl with cooking spray. Pour 1/2 of the popcorn in a different bowl (about 6 c of popcorn). Set aside.
- Measure ingredients and set aside.
Cooking Instructions
- Preheat to 216°F
- Add 1/3 c salted butter to pan
- Stir ingredients
- Add 1 c granulated sugar to pan
- Stir ingredients
- Add 1/2 c light corn syrup to pan
- Stir ingredients

- Add 1 tsp vanilla extract to pan
- Stir ingredients
- Add 1/4 tsp baking soda to pan
- Add 1/2 tsp kosher salt to pan
- Stir ingredients
- Remove from heat.
Finishing Instructions
- Pour 1/2 of the syrup over the popcorn in the bowl. Mix well.
- Stir in any candies or sprinkles into the popcorn mixture.
- Spray hands with cooking spray and gather popcorn with syrup on it and form popcorn balls. Work quickly because the syrup popcorn mixture will get too hard to form balls.
- Place popcorn balls on a plate.
- Now, repeat steps for the other half of the popcorn. Pour the remaining syrup on the popcorn, mix well, add candies/sprinkles, form into balls then place on a plate.
- Optional - decorate the popcorn balls with candies and icing.
