Equipment List
- 10-12” skillet with lid
- Mixing bowl
Ingredients
- 1 c flour
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3 Tbsp unsalted butter- cold & cubes
- 1/3 c + 1 Tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp pure vanilla
- 1/2 c sugar
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 6 c frozen cherries
Cooking Instructions
- Add 1 c flour, 2 Tbsp sugar, 1 1/2 tsp baking powder , and 1/4 tsp salt to bowl
- Add 3 Tbsp unsalted butter to bowl
- Using a pastry cutter, mix until butter is finely crumbled.
- Add 1/3 c + 1 Tbsp milk and 1/2 tsp pure vanilla to bowl and gently mix, just until combined. Set aside.
- Add 1/2 c sugar, 1 tsp cornstarch , 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp salt, and 6 c frozen cherries to a large bowl and stir to combine.
- Heat ingredients
- Add cherry mixture to pan.
- Stir ingredients occasionally until cherries come to a boil
- Continue boiling gently, stirring occasionally.
- Cover & reduce heat. Adjust heat as needed to keep at a simmer but avoid overflowing for 25 min. Do not remove lid.
Finishing Instructions
- Spoon into bowls. Top with ice cream, if desired.
