Equipment List


  • 10-12” skillet with lid
  • Mixing bowl

Ingredients


  • 1 c flour
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 Tbsp unsalted butter
    - cold & cubes
  • 1/3 c + 1 Tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 6 c frozen cherries

Cooking Instructions


  • Add 1 c flour, 2 Tbsp sugar, 1 1/2 tsp baking powder , and 1/4 tsp salt to bowl
  • Add 3 Tbsp unsalted butter to bowl
  • Using a pastry cutter, mix until butter is finely crumbled.
  • Add 1/3 c + 1 Tbsp milk and 1/2 tsp pure vanilla to bowl and gently mix, just until combined. Set aside.
  • Add 1/2 c sugar, 1 tsp cornstarch , 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp salt, and 6 c frozen cherries to a large bowl and stir to combine.
  • Heat ingredients
  • Add cherry mixture to pan.
  • Stir ingredients occasionally until cherries come to a boil
  • Continue boiling gently, stirring occasionally.
  • Cover & reduce heat. Adjust heat as needed to keep at a simmer but avoid overflowing for 25 min. Do not remove lid.

Finishing Instructions


  • Spoon into bowls. Top with ice cream, if desired.
