Equipment List

  • Dutch oven or large skillet
  • Hamburger chopper
  • Rubber spatula


  • 16 ounces pork sausage
  • 1/2 c flour
  • 4 c milk
    - 2% or higher
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • Large can buttermilk biscuits
    - prepared according to package directions

Cooking Instructions

  • Preheat to 102°F
  • Add 16 ounces pork sausage to pan
  • Using a hamburger chopper, mash sausage as it cooks, breaking sausage into very small pieces until cooked completely.
  • Sprinkle 1/2 c flour over flour
  • Stir ingredients
  • Note: This step provides a thickener for the milk, and cooking it with the sausage allows the flour taste to be removed.
  • Add 4 c milk to pan
  • Add 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp black pepper to pan
  • Stir ingredients

  • Remove from heat

Finishing Instructions

  • Serve over biscuits.
  • ** Note** Gravy will thicken considerably as it cools. Feel free to add additional milk (1/4 c at a time) to thin out for serving.
